The itinerary

Day 1

Arrive early into London Heathrow Airport and meet up with your driver and coach (as per instructions).Depart the airport and travel to Stonehenge. Lying prominently on the flat Salisbury plains, Stonehenge is Britain's (possibly Europe's) most important prehistoric monument. The standing stones are anywhere between three and four thousand years old, their purpose now largely obscured by time. It is known that some of the stones were brought in from as far away as Wales.Travel onwards to your hotel in the delightful town of Chippenham, where a welcome dinner is included at your hotel this evening.

Day 4

Depart this morning for the pretty market town of Devizes. Upon arrival there will be a visit to the local Wadworth Brewery for a guided tour including a tutored sampling session at the end of the visit.

Afterwards there will be free time in Devizes to purchase lunch.

This afternoon walk to the local canal to board the Kenavon Venture Canal Boat for a private afternoon cruise including a cream tea (duration 2 hours).

Other light refreshments and snacks will be available to purchase whilst on board (Please note they will only accept cash payment on the day).

Return to Chippenham where a farewell dinner in included at your hotel this evening.

Day 2

Depart your hotel for the beautiful city of Bath.

Enjoy the day in Bath including a guided tour with a local guide and a visit to Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths Museum. Famed for its well-proportioned Georgian architecture all laid out in elegant terraces, crescents and squares, Bath deserves its status as England's only World Heritage City. It was the Roman's however who first discovered its unique thermal spring but it was really during the 18th and 19th centuries that the town really grew to prominence attracting both royalty as well as many well-known celebrities of that era to enjoy the health-giving properties of the spa water. There will be free time for independent shopping and sightseeing.

Return to Chippenham where the evening is free to purchase dinner in the town centre.

Day 5

Depart this morning after breakfast for a visit to Lacock Abbey, Fox Talbot Musuem and the Village. The Abbey, located at the heart of the village within its own woodland grounds, is a quirky country house of various architectural styles, built upon the foundations of a former nunnery. Visitors can experience the atmosphere of the medieval rooms and cloister court, giving a sense of the Abbey's monastic past. The museum celebrates the achievements of former Lacock resident, William Henry Fox Talbot, famous for his contributions to the invention of photography.

Afterwards continue to Bowood House & Gardens, home of the Marquis and Marchioness of Lansdowne. Discover the rich and fascinating history of Bowood House and the Lansdowne family, set within 100 acres of beautifully landscaped 'Capability' Brown Parkland. Surrounding the Georgian House is the Italian-inspired Terrace Garden, the Private Walled Gardens and the herbaceous border, all radiating colour throughout the seasons.

Depart Bowood for London Heathrow Airport, arriving in time for your late evening flight home.

Day 3

Depart your hotel for the historic city of Salisbury.

Upon arrival visit Salisbury Cathedral. A 45-minute volunteer-led guided tour in English is included at the city's impressive medieval cathedral. This beautiful landmark also boasts the tallest spire in England (404 ft).

There will be an opportunity to purchase lunch and for independent shopping in Salisbury today.

This afternoon depart Salisbury for your onward journey to nearby Old Sarum.

Upon arrival discover the story of the original Salisbury at Old Sarum, located two miles north of where the city stands now. This mighty Iron Age hill fort was where the first cathedral once stood and the Romans, Normans and Saxons have all left their mark. On site there, there are graphic interpretation panels which tell the sites 5,000 years of history. The site also has beautiful views across the Wiltshire countryside.

Return to Chippenham, where dinner this evening is included in a local restaurant within walking distance of the hotel.
