 FARMING TOUR OF SCOTLAND 

The itinerary

Day 1

Group arrival at Edinburgh Airport.

Continue to Edinburgh City for a panoramic tour of Edinburgh including Holyrood, the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and the New Town area. Visit inside Edinburgh Castle. There will be some time leisure to explore the Royal Mile on your own.

Transfer to the hotel for check-in.

Stay night: Edinburgh

Day 2

This morning visit Stirling Livestock Market. There will be the opportunity to meet with some local farmers at the market. Later continue into the area of 'Royal Deeside' in Aberdeenshire. We will visit Balmoral Castle, the main holiday home of the royal family in Scotland since the 19th century. Later this afternoon visit a mixed arable and livestock farm. Aberdeenshire is one of the most productive and agriculturally diverse regions of Scotland.

Day 3

Depart after breakfast to visit a pedigree Aberdeen Angus Beef herd.

Continue into the Speyside area for a visit to one of the Single Malt Whisky distilleries for which this part of Scotland is famous. Continue to Inverness with a visit to a pedigree Highland cattle herd en route.

Day 4

Depart south early this morning, travelling through the spectacular Cairngorm National Park. We will make stops en route to admire the views in this spectacular area.

The park covers the Cairngorms range of mountains, and surrounding hills. Cairngorms National Park covers an area of 4,528 km2 (1,748 sq mi) in Aberdeenshire, Moray, Highland, Angus and Perth and Kinross Regions. The Cairngorm Mountains are a spectacular landscape, similar in appearance to the Hardangervidda National Park of Norway in having a large upland plateau.

It is also a farmed and managed landscape in which tourism is encouraged. We'll visit a large farming enterprise en route, to explore these aspects.

Later today, visit a commercial beef Suckler enterprise in the area of Perthshire, before arriving back in Edinburgh.

Day 5

Free time until the group transfers to Edinburgh Airport.
